By Anshuman Daga and Tom Westbrook SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Asian stocks advanced on Tuesday and the dollar steadied below a recent peak ahead of U.S. inflation data that some strategists said could offer another signal that inflation has peaked. S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq futures held firm, while European stock futures dipped, setting the stage for a subdued start for European markets. MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares ex-Japan rose 0.8%, led by a 2.6% jump for South Korea's KOSPI. Japan's Nikkei put on 0.2%. [.KS][.T] The MSCI gauge has risen for four days in a row, bouncing back from two-year lows. Analysts, however, warned that U.S. core inflation is likely to march on and that the near-term rate implications are unclear. "It's too early to be celebrating the end of inflation, as some market participants seem already to be doing," said ING economist Rob Carnell. U.S. crude is hovering below $90 a barrel, down nearly 30% since the middle of June and roughly where it traded before Russia's invasion of Ukraine. [O/R] Interest rate futures imply a 90% chance that the Federal Reserve lifts its benchmark interest rate by 75 basis points at next week's policy meeting - a position that is perhaps most vulnerable to a downside CPI surprise. "A further cooling in inflation would support the case for a step down in the pace of policy tightening to a 50 basis points rate hike at the FOMC meeting next week," said Kristina Clifton, a senior economist at CBA. "Nevertheless, an upside surprise to inflation will easily cement market expectations of another outsized 75 basis points rate hike." U.S. inflation figures are due at 1230 GMT and the consensus is for the core inflation rate last month to have risen 0.3% month-on-month, the same as in July. On Monday, Wall Street indexes posted a fourth straight session of gains. DOLLAR BELOW RECENT PEAK Asia data out on Tuesday offered a cloudy picture of regional economies. A 9% year-on-year jump in Japanese wholesale prices points to pressure on corporate margins, yet a slowdown in gains for August holds some hope of relief. In New Zealand, rate hikes which began a year ago are starting to bite, sending home prices down 6% since last August. The investment banking world is also offering a counterpoint to stock markets' enthusiasm. Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) is mulling job cuts, a person familiar with the plans told Reuters. A KKR-led consortium has told Australia's Ramsay Health Care it will not improve its $14.5 billion cash-and-stock offer for the hospital operator, a move that will likely put a deal on ice. In currency markets the dollar is off recent peaks. Its index against major peers was steady at 108.16, after falling 0.7% overnight, the largest daily decline since August. Tailwinds from last week's European rate hike have the euro extending a bounce and above parity at $1.0127. [FRX/] Even the battered Japanese yen is having a breather at 142.5 per dollar - a bit stronger than last week's 24-year low at 144.99 with some investors closing bets on a further slide as risks of official intervention increase. U.S. Treasury yields rose overnight after some lacklustre auctions. Selling was heaviest at the very long end, with the 30-year yield up about 6 bps to around 3.5%. Benchmark 10-year yields steadied at 3.3425% in Tokyo trade on Tuesday, beneath the two-year yield of 3.5489%. [US/] Gold was steady at $1,722 an ounce.

By Marc Jones LONDON (Reuters) - European shares moved sideways and bond markets rallied on Tuesday as some disappointing earnings, the prospect of another super-sized U.S. interest rate hike and a looming gas crisis all kept the mood cautious. Asia had been buoyed overnight by a new Chinese plan to tackle its property crisis and as tech giant Alibaba (NYSE:BABA) sought a primary listing in Hong Kong [.SS], but Europe and Wall Street could not keep it going. A Walmart (NYSE:WMT) profit alarm pushed Dow and S&P 500 futures lower [.N] while Europe's STOXX 600 barely budged. In contrast to Walmart, its biggest consumer giant Unilever (NYSE:UL) delivered a profit upgrade and higher oil prices lifted commodity stocks [O/R]. But they were offset by broader recession fears as European Union leaders agreed to cut their country's gas usage and as 6% dive in UBS shares hit the banking sector. (EU) "The key question we have as these earnings come out is how much pricing power do these (consumer facing) firms have," said Diamond Hill international equities portfolio manager Krishna Mohanraj, referring to the pressures of higher inflation. In the United States, Walmart's shares were down around 9% in pre-opening bell trading after it had slashed its forecasts on Monday due to those exact issues. [.N]. General Electric (NYSE:GE) rose 6% though after growth in its aviation business helped it beat estimates. Coca-Cola (NYSE:KO) gained 1% as it raised forecasts. In Europe too, Unilever, which makes everything from laundry detergent to ice cream, raised its forecasts owing to what its CEO Alan Jope said had been "strong pricing to mitigate input cost inflation". European Union countries approved a weakened emergency plan to curb their gas usage on Tuesday after striking compromise deals to limit the cuts for some countries as they brace for further Russian cuts in supply. The Kremlin also warned again that state monopoly Gazprom (MCX:GAZP) would reduce its supply further this week due to another maintenance issue on the Nord Stream 1 pipeline. Flows will fall to 33 million cubic metres per day - a halving of the current, already reduced level. That sent European gas prices up almost 10% and they are now more than 450% higher than a year ago, although still some way below the record highs hit shortly after Russia began its invasion of Ukraine in February. "It is game of cat and mouse," said Christopher Granville Managing Director of EMEA & Global Political Research at TS Lombard. "The Russia position will always be that it will continue to supply the gas within the constraints caused by the West's sanctions. But they will then find lots of problems that suddenly pop up." Graphic - Europe's gas price surge " onerror="this.style.display='none'" class="msg-img" /> FED UP Investors are also awaiting a likely 75 basis point Federal Reserve interest rate increase on Wednesday - with markets pricing about a 10% risk of a larger hike, as well as waiting to see whether economic warning signs prompt a shift in rhetoric. The International Monetary Fund is set to publish its closely-watched world forecasts later too which are expected to point to even slower growth and higher inflation. "We are leaning to the view that 75 bps is most likely but won't be the end unless they see some demand destruction and some tempering of inflation," said John Milroy, an investment adviser at Ord Minnett. NOT SO HIGH TECH Global tech giants Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) are both reporting after the Wall Street session later, followed by Facebook (NASDAQ:META) owner Meta tomorrow and Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) on Thursday. It adds up to more than $7.5 trillion of market cap, Deutsche Bank (ETR:DBKGn)'s Jim Reid pointed out. "Although with these 5 stocks being down between around -13% (Apple) YTD to around -50% (Meta), with the other three down around -20 to -25%, this figure would have been closer to $10 trillion at the start of the year." In Asia, MSCI's broadest regional index outside Japan had bounced 0.5%. Chinese stocks had jumped after reports the country would set up a fund of up to $44 billion to help property developers. [.SS] Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index ended 1.7% higher on the Alibaba news although Japan's Nikkei fell 0.16%. (T) In currencies, the dollar was pushing for recent milestone highs as uncertainty continued to swirl around the interest rate and economic outlook. [/FRX] The euro tumbled back to $1.0139 from $1.0250 hemmed in by all the uncertainty over Europe's energy security. The yen steadied at 136.44 per dollar. The U.S. dollar index, which touched a 20-year high this month, was up 0.6% on the day at 107.132. [FRX/] Oil prices rose further on expectations Russia's reduction in natural gas supply to Europe could encourage a switch to crude, with Brent futures last up 1.5% at $106.68 a barrel and U.S. crude up 1.6% at $98.21 a barrel. Benchmark 10-year Treasury yields tumbled to 2.73% from 2.87% at the end of last week. Germany's benchmark 10-year bond yield has slumped back under the psychological 1% threshold too as Europe's recession worries have intensified. [US/] [GVD/EUR] Tuesday also marked the 10-year anniversary since then ECB President Mario Draghi pledged to do "whatever it takes" to prevent a break up of the euro currency project. By Rowena Edwards LONDON (Reuters) -Oil prices were stable on Monday, struggling to reverse last week's losses as the market balanced tightening supplies with concerns about slowing global economic growth. Brent crude futures were down 14 cents, or 0.12%, at $112.98 a barrel by 1246 GMT. Front-month prices tumbled 7.3% last week for their first weekly fall in five. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude was up 13 cents, or 0.12%, at $109.69. Front-month prices dropped 9.2% last week for the first decline in eight weeks. "Friday’s steep price fall can be seen as a delayed reaction to the concerns about recession that have already been weighing on the prices of other commodities for some time," said Commerzbank (ETR:CBKG) analyst Carsten Fritsch. Analysts and investors said they believe a recession is more likely after the U.S. Federal Reserve approved on Wednesday the largest interest rate increase in more than a quarter of a century in an effort to contain a surge in inflation. Similar tightening approaches by the Bank of England and Swiss National Bank last week ensued. Brent crude futures on Monday touched their lowest in a month, but some analysts expect the slump to be short-lived. "Supplies will remain tight and continue supporting high oil prices. The norm for ICE (NYSE:ICE) Brent is still around the $120/bbl mark," said PVM analyst Stephen Brennock. Western sanctions have reduced access to oil from Russia after its invasion of Ukraine, which Russia calls a "special operation". While China's crude oil imports from Russia in May soared 55% from a year earlier to a record high, displacing Saudi Arabia as the top supplier, the country's export quotas have resulted in declining oil product shipments. Tight refined products markets have supported oil prices. Analysts expect limited summer increases from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and its allies, a group known collectively as OPEC+. Libya's oil production has remained volatile following blockades by groups in the country's east, with its output most recently pegged at 700,000 per day. Meanwhile, prospects are dwindling for Iranian sanctions relief that could result in a meaningful increase in the country's crude exports. There has been some mitigation for tight supply with the release of strategic petroleum reserves, led by the United States. U.S. production is also climbing, according to rig count data from energy services firm Baker Hughes Co.

When Arthur and I decided to ice-break swing trades in Jan-2022 , I was a bit intrigued . I wanted to explore the universal system scales before , but I had decided to wait for an action project to pass the demand . Also had in mind the exploration for after account growth with the 110 point scale . With our current scale , and 3 other archived strategies , we do not need to explore deeper into the system . I do believe that it is possible to further refine the FX-UST . But , all about timing into the market , not modification of set numbers . I really liked my early market drive this morning . Even though I was a bit tired and heavy on errands , the price pattern had a very vivid feel in looks . As if there was nothing else to look into , I know what that means . That we can drive , a drive that my previous system can not provide , because in 8 hours to 110 points or more there may be pressure on time , if you have 3 active entries running . The attention level on the monitor is high , and I do not like to feel pressurize . There is really no pressure with FX-UST , there is plenty of time to think , and at least a few hours to determine if a trade should close , be protected , or trail it . Looks like we have a content analyst 🧭 . I was expecting to get my scales a bit upgraded , just had no true set time as to when . Thanks to the team members here for pushing . The most amazing thing is that I created the 110 point system with 40% to 50% per month return as the target . But it could take 5 to 7 tadesto erase a stop loss . Even though the wining percentage is high , I don't like this . With FX-UST we can erase a stop loss in one single trade or two , 3 at most . Even more important , at 8% risk per entry , and in 10 trades in one week we can make 40% return on any number . Give it a few more days and a few more trades , and in 10 working days we can have a solid 50% return on the account . So the original target doubled to 100% to 120% per month . The execution is to use the 110 point strat as a day entertainer , with a target of 20% at end of month . Passing very safe numbers . And , using FX-UST as a hammer and target 60% per month . After running 10 days of successful trading , reasonable to modify these targets to 30 and 90% respectively . This will pass our portfolio total account protection , by aiming for a 50% monthly return on the first half of each month , and them using those half profits to hit around 75 to 100% at end of the same month . Truly a utility .
