I entertained the idea a while back of building exposure into lithium stocks with electric cars using lithium batteries and lithium being a limited resource. Was looking at SQM and ALB but the share price has gone on to match all time highs. Its another sector I would like to keep an eye on if there was a market crash.

Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile says demand for lithium is growing faster than it previously expected as sales for electric vehicles rise. As a result, the company is speeding up expansion plans in Chile, pushing to be able to produce 180K metric tons of lithium carbonate and 30K metric tons of lithium hydroxide by the end of 2022. Other lithium companies, including Albemarle and Livent ( LTHM ), also have moved to expand capacity to meet customer demand fueled by the EV market. SQM, as the company is called, reports $68M in net income on $529M in revenue for 1Q overall, up from $45M on $392M for the same time last year.
